2011 OFF THE HILL WEEK

We just finished our 2011 OFF THE HILL WEEK. This is a tradition at KHS since its inception. The school is located on a hill; hence, most learning takes place OFF THE HILL. This year many of the students and teachers spent the week aboard the Roseway Schooner – The World Ocean School. For more about this program visit their website at http://www.worldoceanschool.org/. Funding for this program was through Title V, a federal fund available to both private and public schools. The land lubbers spent the week touring St. Croix taking pictures. Part of their day was spent on computers experimenting with photo alteration. Each student was given a DVD on which to save all their work. Godwyn DeFrietas, Kingshill School graduate in 2009, recently visited the school. He is currently attending the University of the Virgin Islands, working and serving in the National Guard.

Reading to Pre-Schoolers – First Quarter

The Kingshill ninth graders are reading to pre-schoolers at another school on-island every Friday during the first quarter. In addition, they are working on two projects to be presented at the pre-school at the end of the quarter. Each student is writing a children’s story. Also, working in two groups, Kingshill students are preparing scripts, making scenery and costumes based on a children’s story of their choice.

National Poetry OutLoud Competition
